A queenless colony is a pitiful and meloncholy community; there may be a mournful wail or lament from within...without intervention, the colony will die. But introduce a new queen and the most extravagent change takes place. (pg.177)
To me this quote relates to Lily the most. I believe this because to the hive, a queen is a mother and without a mother to lead them, they become lost just like how Lily is at the beginning of the story. This quote also relates how Lily is given three new mothers and the difference it has made in her new life.
